Electrical Work in Pace

Pace grew fast from the 1980s on, so many homes are from the same few decades. Those homes are now at the age when original panels, outdoor circuits and builder-grade fixtures start asking for attention, and owners are adding EV chargers, pools and generators.

About Pace

Pace is an unincorporated community in Santa Rosa County with 24,684 residents in the 2020 census (Wikipedia: Pace, Florida). It is named for James G. Pace, whose lumber, paper and turpentine operations ran here. The community stayed small through most of the 20th century, then grew quickly from about 1980; between 2000 and 2010 its population rose 171 percent. Floridatown and Pea Ridge are now counted as neighborhoods of Pace.

Homes from the boom years

Many houses built during that growth are now 20 to 40 years old. Common requests: replacing original panels, adding circuits for kitchens and home offices, swapping builder-grade fixtures for fans and LEDs, and fixing outdoor GFCIs worn out by humidity.

New loads

EV chargers, pool equipment, larger air conditioners and generator hookups all need capacity. A load calculation under the National Electrical Code, adopted through Florida's building code (Florida Building Commission), shows whether the existing panel can handle it. See panel upgrades.

County permits

Because Pace is unincorporated, electrical permits come from Santa Rosa County (Santa Rosa County).

Nearby

Milton borders Pace on the east, Navarre is to the southeast, and Cantonment and Ferry Pass are across the Escambia River and bay.
